Membership has it's perks.

Firstly, you're given access to our extensive, multi-disciplinary pressline.

We have 4 types of printmaking presses; Etching, Lithography, Screenprint, and Letterpress.

Then there's the prepress and plate-working area. You start with an idea, and leave with plates or screens if that is your goal- everything from artwork prep to plate touchup can be done in one place.

We provide an Epson 7880 inkjet printer for film production on site. You can come here with files and have your films output on site.

We have a silkscreen coating area, emulsion coaters, and a quick drying box which can turn a screen around in about an hour from coat to exposure.

We have an exposure unit capable of handling photoetching, photo-lithography, photopolymer plates and of course, silkscreen printing. We don't maintain a darkroom, but prefer low-light sensitivity processes. We also have an Anderson and Vreeland Photopolymer Plate Processor for digital-to-letterpress plates, and the production of digital intaglio plates.

We also have a grounds room for handling traditional hard-ball grounds, asphaltum, and messy/stinky processes. An aquatint box is under construction.

Once you've got your plates made, you need to handle paper preparation. You can purchase paper on site or bring your own, but we have "clean" tables exclusively used to prepare/tear down paper, including a production table with T-slot stops so you can do this efficiently, and a 4X8 cutting surface.
We also provide services on an 18 inch by 23 inch "stationary" oriented stack paper cutter which can be operated for you by the hour*.

As far as re-claimable printing assets, our shop hosts a library of approximately 20 lithography stones which are able to be checked out on a project basis, along with a large amount (80+) of high quality aluminum frame silkscreens of various sizes which can be used for a nominal fee. We have a large library of handset type and various engravings, ornaments, rule, and other letterpress accoutrements for you to set and print projects from, and various letterpress plate bases digital-to-photopolymer letterpress plates.
Oh, and did we mention the Anderson and Vreeland Photopolymer Platemaker you can use to make digital-to-photopolymer letterpress plates in house? (It also works pretty well with intaglio plates.)

We also have a stock of Ink of various types which we provide so members may purchase smaller quantities from it by weight. Ink is expensive! Why not buy a little of a few colors from our palette rather than a lot of a few and store them at home?

We also offer several "house papers", which are on site in stock that are available for purchase at un-inflated retail prices. Inquire as to what is available and we are happy to describe or even provide samples, but we happen to like Coventry Rag, Arches Cover, and Rives BFK, as well as Somerset Velvet.

Simply put: Membership at Haven Press is by far the least expensive way to consistently make prints on a regular basis. We try to make it easy and one-stop by providing things you might usually have to source elsewhere.

Our goal is to have you show up with nothing but a few ideas, some drawings, maybe a few of your own special tools, and to leave with a finished stack of prints- everything between can be found here at your fingertips.
